Northampton in Bloom Entry

This year we've entered the Northampton in Bloom competition.  It is a local competition, headed up by Northampton Borough Council, that encourages schools, community groups, residents, businesses, allotments and parish councils to get involved in horticulture and community projects for the benefit of residents and visitors to the town.

Our school have been invited by the Friends of Eastfield Park to tend to an insect friendly herbaceous border within the park grounds.  As part of their science curriculum topic 'Plants', the Year 1 pupils have been visiting the park to maintain the established border.

The competition aims:

  • To improve all areas of the town by involving members of the community
  • To consider all aspects relating to saving natural resources in the work carried out
  • To encourage children to understand their environment through projects within schools and to learn where their food comes from
  • To enjoy whatever we do as part of the Bloom community

At 9:30 am on Thursday 11th July their hard work will be judged and we would like to take the two classes over to the park on this day for a last play and to meet the judge.

If you would like your child to take part in this exciting competition please complete the permission slip sent home and return it along with the attached off-site consent form.
