March a Mile for Missio

You may be aware that Pope Francis has designated October as the Extraordinary Month of Mission for the work of Missio; the Church’s official overseas charity. The motto of Missio is ‘Children Helping Children’.

As a result, the Catholic schools of our Trust are uniting together to ‘March a Mile for Missio’. At St Gregory’s the pupils and staff will be marching their mile on Tuesday 1st October, on the school field. Children should wear their usual school uniform. In the case of inclement weather, the event will be postponed to later in the week.

We would be grateful if you would donate to this very worthy cause. If you are able to donate some spare change, it would be much appreciated; please hand this to your child’s class teacher who will ensure it reaches the School Office.

This donation will be added to the Diocesan total and a giant sized cheque will be presented to Missio at the School’s Diocesan Mass on 11th October. Members of our Year 5 and Year 6 Ethos Team will be in attendance along with representatives from fifty-three schools from the Diocese of Northampton who will have also contributed to this cause.

Yours faithfully,

Mrs R. Darwin
Trust Chaplain

PRAYER FOR THE EXTRAORDINARY MONTH OF MISSION

God our Father, when your Son Jesus Christ rose from the dead,
he commissioned his followers to ‘go and make disciples of all nations’.
Through our Baptism you send us out to continue this mission among all peoples.
Empower us by the gifts of the Holy Spirit to be courageous and enthusiastic
in bearing witness to the Gospel, so that the mission entrusted to us,
which is still far from completion, may bring life and light to the world.
May all peoples experience the saving love and generous mercy of Jesus Christ,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever.
Amen.
