Aims

We, the staff and governors, aim to:

• Ensure that every child reaches their full academic potential
• Ensure that every child flourishes in regard to their social, emotional, behavioural and physical development
• Ensure that every child reaches their full potential in all areas of school life
• Make provision for identified children in order that they are not disadvantaged by their personal circumstances
• Raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers by using the Pupil Premium Grant effectively

What is the Pupil Premium Grant?

The Pupil Premium Grant is additional funding given to publicly funded schools in England; it is designed to help schools raise the attainment of disadvantaged children from Reception to Year 11 and close the gap between them and their peers.

Additionally, the Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP) is designed to narrow the attainment gap between young children from low-income families and their peers by improving the facilities, equipment and learning experiences to benefit the growth and development of eligible 3 or 4 year old children. Any 4 year olds in primary school reception classes who already receive the school-age pupil premium are not eligible for EYPP funding.

Who should benefit from the Pupil Premium Grant?

Pupil Premium funding is allocated according to the number of children in each school, from Reception to Year Six, who:

• Are entitled to Free School Meals
• Have been entitled to Free School Meals during the last six years (this category is referred to as ‘Ever 6’)
• Are ‘looked after’ children
• Are adopted from care under the Adoption and Children Act 2002 and who have left care under a Special Guardianship or Residence Order
• Have parents in the regular armed forces, or who have been in the armed forces in the last four years

A child is eligible for the Early Years Pupil Premium if:

• they are 3 or 4 years old and receiving Government funded free entitlement in any OFSTED registered childcare provider and their parents/carers are in receipt of one or more of the benefits used to access eligibility for free school meals

or if they have been:

• looked after by the Local Authority for at least one day
• have been adopted from care in the Local Authority
• have left care through special guardianship and are subject to a child arrangement order (formerly known as residence orders)
