On the return to school we all enjoyed catching up with our friends, finding out how they spent the summer break, but the question everyone wanted to ask was: What did Gregory Bear do?  

He had thoroughly enjoyed the summer term at school,among his adventures he went on the year 6 residential trip to Wales and he had been to the farm with Foundation Stage but he needed another adventure.

Mrs DeBoo was the person to share that adventure with, in Scotland!  Here are a few highlights of their trip:

Day One

Gregory put on his holiday clothes and took his seat in the car.  He checked the route in the map book and acted as SatNav for Mrs DeBoo who did the driving.  Gregory and Mrs DeBoo also had Jake, the dog, along to keep them company.

As he looked out of the car, Gregory saw the landscape changing, it was getting hilly.  He got very excited when crossed the border into Scotland.  He enjoyed the drive with Mrs DeBoo through the foothills to their holiday house in The Trossachs.

Gregory was even more excited once they reached the house and he enjoyed looking at the beautiful views from the kitchen window.  He had a good walk to see views of Loch Earn. 

His first planned walk was to the Falls of Bruar where Gregory enjoyed looking at the waterfalls all along the gorge.

Day Two

Earlier in the year Gregory had climbed Snowdon in Wales with Mrs Kyriakides.  With this experience Gregory really wanted to climb a Munro in Scotland - that is a mountain over 3000 ft high.  He was very lucky because less than two miles away from the holiday home was Ben Vorlich - 3250 ft.  Mrs DeBoo agreed to carry Gregory on her rucksack and all the way to the top they were rewarded with spectacular views even though it rained one or two times!

Day Three

Another day and Gregory visited the graveside of Rob Roy - a famous character from Scottish history.  Rob Roy's name was MacGregor and Gregory wondered if they were related.

Gregory started each morning with a healthy breakfast whilst checking the maps for the days expedition.

Day Four

Gregory experienced a lot of rain in the last few days of his holiday and so had to spend much of his time sheltering in Mrs DeBoo's rucksack.  However this didn't stop the chickens coming to the house every day to say hello and enjoy a snack or two. 

While it rained there was time to try on some tartan although he couldn't find the MacGregor colours which tend to be more red and green.

There was a visit to Oban - on the West coast of Scotland - for the DeBoos and Gregory.  It even stopped raining so Gregory had some more photos taken.  Gregory and the DeBoo family enjoyed taking in the view from Pulpit Hill on their last expedition.
